Frequently Asked Questions

Is one time of the season better than another?

Fishing is just that, fishing. On lake Michigan anything can bite. Generally April, May and early June are good for Browns, Rainbows, and Lake Trout. As the season progresses and the water warms, Browns become more scarce and Coho's, Chinook and Steelhead become the targeted game fish. Then as the days get shorter, the Chinook, Coho’s, and Browns begin to stage at the river mouths.

Does it matter what time I go fishing?

Not necessarily. Fish can be caught at anytime, though many people prefer fishing in the morning before the rest of world is awake. Mornings typically offer good action as the fish go on a feeding frenzy at about first light. Though this time can produce good action, if your not a morning person, the first part of these trips may not be for you.

Fishing in the afternoon and into the evening allows more time to enjoy some of the same events as a morning trip, but in reverse order. When fishing in the afternoon, you can enjoy a beautiful sunset, along with an evening bite right about sunset.

Can I give a trip as a gift?

Yes, if you know someone that would enjoy the gift of a fishing trip, we offer gift certificates.

Where do we fish?

The typical answer is "where the fish are". From hour-to-hour and day-to-day the locations that hold fish can be 10 miles apart. Amazing as it may seem, one morning we may be within 100 yards of shore, and then the next day we could be in 240 feet of water catching the same type of fish.

Can a fishing trip be interactive?

YES!! If you want a fishing trip where all you do is wind in fish, then we can accommodate. If you want a fishing experience that includes lure selection, rigging rods, setting downriggers, or learning how to set stackers or sliders, we can also provide an educational/interactive experience. Reeling in fish is fun but getting involved can also be enjoyable.

What about the wearing of PFD's?

Though adults are not required by law to wear PFD's, lake conditions can change quickly. Unlike adults, there are regulations requiring individuals under the age 13 to wear a PFD while on the water.

If you are scheduling a trip with children, please let us know when you reserve your date.

The Great Lakes get rough and safety will NEVER be compromised!!!
